Symptoms
of a Kundalini Awakening
Kundalini experiences that occur during the
awakening process can be extremely diverse and powerful. All of the major
physical systems can be affected. Symptoms can be of a physiological,
psychological, emotional, or para-psychological nature. Sometimes the
experiences are limited to one category, but often they affect more than
one area. To the untrained eye, especially those with backgrounds in
classical psychology or medicine, it is easy to mistakenly label an
intense Kundalini awakening as a psychotic break. That is why it is so
important that the Western world be educated about this spiritual
phenomenon.

Drawing upon Bonnie Greenwell's wonderful book, "Energies
of Transformation: A Guide to the Kundalini Process"
(reviewed elsewhere in this site), we hereby list the most frequently
occuring symptoms by category:

Keep in mind that, as diverse as this list is, it
is by no means complete. These are, however, the most frequently occuring
symptoms. For a complete list, we advise you to read other material
